ROAD TRIP PLOTTING.

Hello all, this is the plotting post for the road trip to Brycha. They will be leaving on January 5, 2015, and they will be traveling up to Michigan while taking some (extremely tedious) side ventures to "sight see." The trip itself shouldn't take as long as it does, but thankfully, Brycha itself is not exactly a happening town.

Below, I'll have three categories! One category is "are you coming" so the mods know what is up. I'll be linking this to the mods so they have a good idea of what we're doing, and I'll get the plot request submitted tomorrow. If you're not in turned in yet, at least we'll have a good idea moving forward (and as you'll see, I've already made up a list of ideas of what they'll be doing anyway).

For those of you not on my plurk (or weren't at the time of the original plurk about this), the Young Avengers and Friends will be renting a giant party bus to road trip up to Michigan. Why are they road tripping when they have several magicians? Because that's what they do. This is almost purely for hipster irony. But when they get to Brycha, they will get down to work!

edit: THE PLOTTING REQUEST IS IN. please feel free to plot amongst yourselves. Also this plot ends after January 9th. They will be returning, with maybe leaving Kitty to bring back the party bus (or letting her hop on the bullet train and magicking away the party bus).

edit 2: FOR PEOPLE WONDERING WHERE A LOG IS, we need to wait on the mods to approve the Brycha half of things. I figure that they can trek up to Brycha either way, but what is the end result of that will be altered then.

Ideas already:

- Stopping at every Barrel Cracker to get cute candy and have bacon.
- Sightseeing various things. The biggest piece of corn in Ohio? Sign them up!
- Leaving Thomas at a stop assuming that it's Stiles.
- And more!

Basically, this is the less business orientated part of the trip, so plot amongst yourselves.

Kid highly encourages group picture taking at each stop, but then spends twenty minutes trying to line everyone up symmetrically in the frame. someone take the camera from him

BRYCHA BUSINESS

All right, so the deets about Brycha are here. Read that up, as it's important. And this is the swearing-in log that took place there.

Things they'll be doing:

- Gathering intel. This will involve both straight forward and underhanded means. Kate will be using her psychometry and she'll be setting up scenarios where Thomas can "listen in."
- She'll also be thorough in exploring the town so that she can see whether Thomas can find out about secret underground layers.
- Otherwise, the mission is to find out about the weather circumstances from November, to find out about the cryptids, and to skirt around and hopefully find out about the Hornets.
- Note that while Kate is a leader-type, she is also about as subtle as a brick, so "skirting around" can vary. No one's judgmental about that one.

How you go about this is up to you!

i think something kanaya might focus on is looking for the specific spot rose saw in her vision. she imagines if that's where she saw, there has to be something there to get things rolling, given the way rose's powers work.

that's mostly where her investigative focus will be, seeing where that might lead. other than that she'll be submitting people to tedious questions about why they want to go in a place if they ask her to help them portal in there, keeping an eye on people to make sure they don't get into trouble, and following certain people to make sure they aren't getting beaten up (thomas).

if she can end up fighting a sasquatch, i would enjoy if she ended up fighting a sasquatch. but i'm also not counting on it.

lydia's actual superpowers have exactly 0 use here, but she's in the charismatic + good liar school of base level human who can probably assist in chatting locals up to get information about cryptids and weather. maybe also tag-team w thomas? idk. flops around.

thomas is going to be doing what's listed up there with kate! he has telepath to snoop in peoples' brains, and he has this other power that lets him see the blue-print kind of structure around the area, so, if there are any hidden rooms or underground places or anything like that, he'll be able to know it's there. those are the things they're mostly making use of

ON TOP OF THAT, THOMAS TENDS TO WANDER OFF AND DO HIS OWN THING AND GET DISTRACTED BY SHINY STUFF A LOT, SO, UH, HE MIGHT NEED BABYSITTING. might be lydia, but no reason he can't have different ones at different times. also, this pretty much sums up thomas's impulse control:


so, there's a good chance someone will be like 'hey thomas going over there/doing that thing might not be a good idea' and thomas might just be like 'w/e, yolo', and get himself into Some Shit. or just give everyone a lot of anxiety. so, restricted areas, dangerous looking people, spooky places, dark alleyways, sea monsters, etc, he has more curiousity than self-preservation instincts, so that can be a thing to idk make things happen with.

Kitty has some experience with skulking about to collect intel! This will be done primarily by the following means:

1. Dressing like a local, blending in, and quietly listening to what people talk about
2. Breaking into places because sometimes your years spent mugging people and burglarizing their homes comes in handy

So if anyone wants to tag along with Kitty being a half-competent spy kid, she'll show you her ways!

loki can do illusions and he can also teleport people back for showers. it's time to hit the most nefarious places on the block, cheat at poker, and maybe make some extra cash while gently liberating information from the criminal underworld. he might also hit up some libraries to see wtf brycha is called brycha.

BRYCHA RETURN FROM MODS

Conversation itself from Brycha citizens won't elucidate much when it comes to the Hornets, as they will either be irritated to be asked -- considering the Hornets still either an urban legend or not their problem, as no incidents have taken place in Brycha -- but between eavesdropping and crow spying, they may overhear the following:

• Kids gossiping about ghosts (or monsters) spotted down at a warehouse off the Brycha Sea Maiden's Wharf.
  
• People dressed in yellow and black, witnessed by crows (not people), coming and going from around the waterfront.

If they travel to the warehouse in question, they will discover the following message left behind on an old laptop, which is functioning but wiped clean of data, fingerprints, and other identifying information:
A rich vex, lo!
A Canonical Testing Mirth.
A lore hunk.
And attached the computer, a postage note with the following message:
Sorry to miss you; catch you later? If you can figure out where to look.

Using her psychometry, Kate can see the following images if she goes to a local museum, or even explores the woods:

• Creatures skulking around the forest and or in the lake, resembling bears, foxes, birds, fish, or other such creatures, but dramatically mutated and deformed versions thereof.
  
• What appears to be CIA agents -- but wearing different uniforms than today's crop does -- cordoning off the woods, appearing to be looking for or monitoring something.
  
• Brycha citizens, in what appears to be the late 80s or early 90s, complaining about earthquakes and unusual tidal behavior, complaining about mysterious vibrations that are affecting health, businesses, architecture, and throwing around speculations ranging from sea monsters to construction to undiscovered fault lines to government experiments.
  
• Human-like but indistinct, shadowy figures deep in the woods and around or coming out of the lake.

Exploring the museum, they would find an exhibit or two dedicated to the earthquake activity in Brycha of 1991-1994, before which there had not been much (if any) and during which there had been strong enough earthquakes to destroy some older buildings as well as knock down some trees. Old articles in the library will briefly touch upon a spike in chemical residue found in the lake and drinking water that lasted throughout 1993, but seems to have dissipated in the years following.

What I Need You All To Do: Discuss amongst yourself who's following up on what lead. We can also discuss who figured out what, what we all think of this information, and so forth so we know how to take this forward. Since I already have another lead for Kate to follow this month, I'm going to step back unless someone else wants Kate for her psychometry. There are a few threads to follow here! If there are any questions for the mods, I'll gather them and bring them back to the plotting comment, too.

Falling under this is "if you'd like to make a post about what they found, that'd be great." Either to the mirror net or the proper network, either is cool! Someone laying claim to that would be nice!

What Kate Will Be Doing

Kate will be doing the following things:

1. She has to follow up on a lead with Quisma, and I try to keep her from doing too many things per month. This will keep her busy.

2. She will be keeping a tidy, organized list for everyone who's doing something. If people claim something but then turn out to be Norman Osborn's henchman, Kate will reassign it to someone else (but we can determine in advance who that someone else is just so we can get in the plotting requests ASAP). She will be checking in on everyone, and I'd like to also know if the various plotting requests got in. Part of getting info is the dissemination of information and following up on it (per a mod post a month or so ago), so making sure we have it all tracked and accounted for will be nice.

I'll make a cool spreadsheet for us to fill in when we've done what, so it's literally organized. But we might want to discuss WHAT we're doing first, of course. So, Kate will be micromanaging everything to make sure it gets done, and I'll do my best to keep everyone in the loop OOC.
